West Lafayette hosts hot spots of style

Finding unique clothes in this town can be a challenge–which is why I scoured for three independent clothing stores for your shopping pleasure. Indigo, Von’s, and Colette, while a little on the pricey side, have something for every girl–no matter how different their styles range. So, if you’re looking for a killer outfit for Valentine’s Day or just a little pick-me-up during the blah month of February, please read on.

Indigo is the size of a walk-in closet, and even then not a very big one. The most people that can fit inside the store without creating a fire hazard are three at best. But despite all that, they have a variety of trendy clothing for someone into the sparkly side of fashion. A sign on the inside advertises that they get a new shipping every week, so that, despite their small size, their inventory is on a constant rotation.

If you haven’t heard the news yet, here it is: Von’s now sells clothing! And while I had my doubts at first about how good how good of quality their clothing actually would be, I can honestly say that I am now firmly in their corner. Von’s caters, as they always have, to the Indie boys and girls. The only complaint I have is the way they number their sizing–it goes by inches. The staff is very helpful though, and is willing to help you out.

Colette, while not exactly hidden, has moved from the Levee area up the hill to the Chauncey Hill area. They’ve expanded and given a lighter, more airy feel to the place that is more welcoming than their previous, darker setting. While they are the most expensive of the bunch with labels such as Free People, you can really find some great bargain items. And if you’re willing to splurge this Valentine’s Day, Colette has some seriously amazing dresses to satisfy your more romantic side.

So when you can not imagine spending anymore fruitless hours at the mall trying to find something that a million other girls do not already have, you should check out Colette, Von’s, and Indigo–all in the Chauncey Mall area and waiting to be discovered.
