Nine wrestlers are moving on to Regionals

The wrestlers from West Lafayette won big on Saturday, January 28, when they competed in the IHSAA Sectionals. As a whole, the team scored in third place, with 9 wrestlers moving on to compete in the Regionals.

Mr. Rick Roseman, coach of the wrestling team, said “ [My favorite moment was] Mykiel Stallings winning. It was a great match.” Mykiel Stallings ‘18 won first place in his weight class after a match against a wrestler from Jeff. Stallings was the only West Side wrestler to take first this year. “It’s a tough Sectional. Jeff and Harrison are tough teams,” said Roseman. Overall, he believed that the team performed well, but he also said that there were a couple wrestlers that could’ve performed better.

After the long day of wrestling, many of the wrestlers went home happy with their performances. People are looking forward to seeing how they perform at Regionals on February 4th.
