Featured Senior: Lucy Platt

Everybody loves Lucy.

When talking to Lucy Platt ’13, it’s clear that her life is full of laughter.

“Lucy’s optimism always amazes me. She’s always cheerful and uplifting; it’s impossible to be in a bad mood around her,” said Devna Patel ’13.

Lucy attributes many of her senior year highlights to the SheDevils dance team, of which she’s been of member of for two years.

“Making state in pom and jazz was really exciting,” she said. Those two routines received eighth and seventh place respectively during the competition’s state round.

Teammate Kelsey Smith said, “Lucy is such an awesome teammate. She brings positive energy to every practice and always keeps us laughing with her goofy sense of humor.”

Added SheDevil captain Kay Krueger ’13, “Lucy’s always super friendly and has a great positive attitude at practice. ”

When complimenting Lucy’s dancing, Krueger said, “Her facial expressions are awesome and she has the perfect gaze for each dance the team does.”

Other memorable moments from her final year as a Red Devil include cheering on the football team in the fall, and her English Literature AP class with Mrs. Helton.

“She’s my favorite teacher because she’s just so cool,” said LUcy.

As for her future plans, Platt is looking forward to majoring in pre-medicine.

“I really like biology and chemistry plus I want to help people,” she said. Her school options are plenty, having gotten into Mount Holyoke in Massachusetts, and University of Southern California. She is also waiting on decisions from her top two schools, Washington University in St. Louis and University of Chicago.

Whether it’s studying, hanging with friends, or dancing it’s clear Lucy Platt is surrounded by a positive and energetic aura.

Maggie Oates ’13 explained, “She’s the perfect combination of cheerful and sassy.”
