Movie Studio will be a new addition to Media Center
Students will soon be able to walk into a room off the library and record and save high-definition video, all with a single remote. The concept is really simple, a movie recording studio where three buttons control the entire system. Ms. Hinman, the new School Librarian, discovered the idea of a “super simple media recording studio.” Equipped with a camera, lights mounted on the ceiling, and an option for a green or presentation screen, the studio will allow students to create video automatically. “All you have to do is plug in a thumb drive, hit the button, and it’ll start recording,” said Hinman.
Brad Thompson’s Computer Tech Support class is building the studio with a $7,000 budget. Cyrus Hulen ‘16, one of the project executors, says that it’s “designed to be a movie studio that is really easy to use, so anybody can go in there and record what they need to record in a variety of different formats.” It will be a few weeks before the studio is fully operational, as Cyrus and his partners are still waiting for components to come in, and students can expect a complete studio by the end of December or start of January.
The studio isn’t reserved for class activities, and creative students will be able to use the studio for their own personal projects as well as assignments. Anthony Hicks ‘16 says that he would use the studio for “making boss rap videos and class projects.”
The name of the studio is still pending, so anyone who would like to leave their mark can suggest a name and vote on our online poll (see the graphic). The studio “should be done by December to Mid-January” says Hulen.
