Reed Shriner is a lyrical genius
“I drop beats in the hallways like I drop A’s on my tests. Got all the girls yellin’ out ‘REED DOLLAZ THE BEST,'” Reed Shriner raps out the lyrics to his first single, ” They Ain’t Ready.” Many know Reed for his chill, laid-back sense of humor but very few know that he is part of a rap group known as T-easy Reed Dollaz Mixtape with Tyler Nycz ’15 and Kyle Gick ’15.
They recorded the song towards the beginning of this month.
“I really enjoy it. It’s a lot of fun,” Nycz said. “Reed is a lyrical genius and he spits mad bars.”
He also said that they hope to increase the quality of the rap game.
Sara Suisman ’15 said, “not only is Reed a pretty cool boyfriend, but he is also the greatest rapper alive.”
Their debut song will be released at the upcoming Turnabout dance,
“It’s gonna be poppin'” Shriner’15 said.
As for his rapping skills, father and principal, Mr. Shriner attests to his hidden talent, “he can drop a beat.”
Reed is also a Superfan captain. As a captain, he helps plan themes, promote events on social media, and in general be loud and lead by example.
He said he learned a lot about organization.
“I think this man [Reed Shriner] is a valuable student and captain to the West Lafayette community,” said fellow Superfan captain Luke Frankhauser ’15. “I have never met another lively person than Reed Patrick Shriner himself.”
Reed said some of his favorite memories from being a Superfan captain have been the CC game and making fun of Luke’s outfits.
“It’s really cool leading everything. I definitely enjoy all the fun we have on Friday nights,” he said.
As for his future plans, Reed plans to drop out and join the peace corps. “I want to save koalas in the outback,” Reed said jokingly. Then after a slight pause he added, “I hope people don’t take that seriously.”
