Boys Tennis: Hitting their Stride

West Lafayette’s Boys Tennis team has been in a constant rise, and has had a lot of recent success.  After winning conference and sectionals the Devils went into regionals on a roll.  Winning 4-1 against Twin Lakes in the first round of regionals they had a tough path facing Carmel in the finals.  Unfortunately West Lafayette lost but put up a respectable fight.

Leading West Sides single players is Ryan Hollis ‘17, who shut out his opponents on his way to a conference and sectional championships.  Arjun Ramani also added to the team score with two more wins in individual play.  Arjun Ramani says “We all went out trying to win our individual matches more for the team aspect, not just for ourselves.  We were really focused on winning as a team more than just ourselves.”  Eric Malone was also a big help to the many team wins that the team had this season.  Doubles teams of Jethro Shou and Brian Mi and also Bian Chen and Jatin Singhal, both won their matches to help take a team win in both conference and sectionals.  Junior Brian Mi said “Our doubles teams have worked hard to have good communication and play well together, and I think it has really paid off.”

West Lafayette had a great finish to their season, but came up a little bit shorter than they were hoping.  Ryan Hollis said “”  With an outstanding season so far, I think that everyone else is with them.
