One Donation can Save Three Lives

The blood drive that took place on January 17th in the WLHS cafeteria was a success.  Many high school students showed up and even the community outside of school played an impact towards the importance of donating blood. The process of donating is worth the time and effort it requires as just one pint of donated blood can save as many as three people’s lives. According to “4.5 million Americans would die each year without life-saving blood transfusions,” so it is important to acknowledge what goes on behind the scenes in someone’s life who has slim to nil supply of blood. While donating blood is about helping those in need, there are some benefits in it for you: It reduces the risk of cancer and hemochromatosis, maintains a healthy heart and liver, weight loss, and stimulates blood cell production: all the more reason to donate.
