How 2 B Hawt Ovr Txt
Since 2007, communication among couples across America has integrated texting, but whereas there are clear rules regarding face-to-face conversation, because it’s literally what separates humans from animals, texting rules are more obscure, as texting is only what separates the 30 year olds from the 20 and under year olds.
The ultimate rule to texting is that it’s usually always better to just talk to them in real life. Text messaging is in no way a replacement for interaction. Just because you are texting a girl all the time doesn’t ever mean that your relationship is for real. Texting is a supplement, not a replacement for talking to someone.
Texting is also a good way to make yourself seem like a clingy weirdo if you don’t have a good text messaging ratio. If a text ratio seems like a non-issue to you, you probably don’t have a good text ratio. So, if you consistently have to send more than one text message for one message received, re-evaluate your conversations with your text partner. Perhaps they just don’t like texting and that’s why they never reply, but on the other hand, you could be a freaking weird annoying person who won’t stop bothering people over text.
Addressing the usage of emoticons, the best advice I can give is moderation. For every message you send with an emoticon/emoji, be sure there are six to seven messages without. It just seems like you’re trying too hard, like your words don’t say enough so you have to include tiny facial icons to supplement. Also the “XD” emoticon is one sure-fire way to make yourself seem eleven years old over text.
Lastly, always proofread before you text. There’s nothing less attractive than the incorrect use of “you’re”. Like seriously, if you’re not going to put effort into making yourself sound coherent over text, what would make me think you’re going to put effort into our relationship in general?
